Will it be the flavor of the summer? We don’t know but what we do know is that there are never enough new ice cream flavors and this time the ice cream is called Alleluia and was created in Italy in honor of Pope Francis. We tell you how this glorious flavor is made and where to find Aleluya ice cream in Buenos Aires.
Aleluya ice cream arrives in Argentina: the Italian ice cream with hazelnuts and chocolate in honor of Pope Francis.

Alleluia ice cream was born in Rome as part of the celebrations of the Jubilee Year called by the Vatican. The idea was born during the European Day of Artisan Ice Cream, and quickly became the “Flavor of the Jubilee”. For us in Argentina it will be the Pope’s ice cream or Francis’ ice cream, since it was created in homage to him.
The recipe was developed by master gelato maker Vincenzo Squartrito, who combined classic Italian pastry elements to create a flavor that would be perfect for the coldest months of the year.
What does Aleluya ice cream taste like and where to eat it in Buenos Aires?
Aleluya ice cream is made with a base of hazelnut cream with cocoa, crunchy pieces of toasted hazelnuts and bitter chocolate granita.
Thanks to the initiative of AFADHYA, the Association of Artisan Ice Cream and Related Products Manufacturers, Aleluya arrived in Argentina this winter. Several artisan ice cream parlors in the country joined the proposal and adapted the original recipe respecting the basic ingredients, but with the local touch of Argentine ice cream.
The new flavor is already available in artisan ice cream parlors in Buenos Aires and other cities of the country that are part of the AFADHYA network. Because in winter you can also eat ice cream.
