PPT FEST 2.0: How to Take the Stage and Defend Your Most Absurd Theories with a PowerPoint
Buenos Aires celebrates its PPT Parties, too. PPT Parties have their own temple in Buenos Aires’ nightlife scene. Once a month, the cultural space La Paz Arriba organizes PPT FEST, a unique event that brings together presenters and curious onlookers (you could be either one), ready to defend—with slides—everything from the most outlandish theories to meticulous analyses of whatever comes to mind.
La Paz Arriba: The ideal setting for an extravagant debate
If you’ve never been, La Paz Arriba is a cultural center and bar one block from Santa Fé and Callao with a very diverse independent arts program, ranging from jazz and theater to out-of-the-ordinary interactive events. The perfect stage for PPT Fest!
Not sure what a PPT Fest is like? PPT FEST is the closest thing to a wild scientific conference: the night is divided into 3 rounds of 3 presenters (9 presentations total per night). While you listen to the most hilarious presentations (How I Became a JustDance Champion, Comparisons Between Super Pancho Breads, or a demonstration of whether Batman and Robin are a couple), you’ll have a few drinks, grab some bar snacks, and applaud at the end.
Want to present at PPT FEST 2.0? Here are the rules for participating
Anyone with an obsession, a wild theory, or an unusual research project can apply to take the stage. However, the organizers of PPT Fest have established criteria:
- ⏱️ Duration: Presentations must be no longer than 15 minutes.
- 🖥️ Exclusive format: Only native PowerPoint files are accepted. Canva, Prezi, PDFs, or similar platforms are strictly prohibited.
- 🚫 No video: The entire flow of the show depends on public speaking and static slides. Embedded video clips are not allowed.
- 💡 Curation process: You can apply with a fully developed idea or submit a draft to get help and arrive on the day of the event with the best possible presentation.
- ⚖️ Selection is arbitrary, and there’s no complaint book.
Reasons for immediate rejection:
- Content that doesn’t violate human rights standards.
- Presentations focused on *High School Musical* (topic exhausted).
- Recycled topics or threads we’ve all read on Taringa back in 2011.
Aside from those three restrictions, the theme and format are 100% open-ended.
