Stop Motion Film Festival
From July 20 to 26, Buenos Aires is hosting the 9th edition of the SMOF International Animation Festival, dedicated to stop-motion film. In 2026, the program includes a competition featuring nearly 100 short films, master classes, and workshops. Screenings will take place at the Gaumont Theater, the Borges Cultural Center, the Casa de la Cultura, and other venues.
Two Days of an Outdoor Festival
The Children’s Festival is the perfect way to enjoy the winter break as a family— for free. It takes place on July 25 and 30 starting at 12:00 p.m. at La Nube (Av. Costanera 2851), with free admission.
Both days feature games by Alma Libre, creative workshops (stenciling on the 25th and screen printing on the 30th), and performances such as the play *Las Hermanas Kitochi* (July 25) and the *Circo Fusión* show (July 30).
To round out the experience, the venue offers a wide variety of dining options, including specialty coffee, Mexican food, popcorn, and a special kids’ menu.
A World of Free Activities at the Andreani Foundation
From July 22 to August 1, at its location at Av. Don Pedro de Mendoza 1987 (La Boca), the Andreani Foundation offers creative workshops on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. All activities are free, and most require prior registration due to limited space.
The program includes hands-on workshops where kids can create with their own hands: the sound-drawing workshop “Ruidujo” (July 22, ages 8–15), the analog animation workshop “Sombras animadas” (July 23 and 30, ages 8–15), the digital theater workshop “Teatro Robot” (July 29, ages 8–15), and the LED lightbox-building workshop “Micromundos luminosos” (August 1, ages 6–12).
For a family outing, on Saturday, July 25, you can join “Bitácora de exploradores,” a guided tour of the exhibitions where you’ll turn clues and impressions into an artistic fanzine.
