Four days and three nights in Mar del Plata, Villa Carlos Paz, or Embalse, with free lodging, full board, and transportation to the excursions. This is what Turismo Grande offers—the Province of Buenos Aires’ program for retirees in the province who receive benefits from ANSES or the IPS. To participate, simply present your retirement ID.
The program also includes day trips, designed for those living in the interior of the province of Buenos Aires who want to explore the most popular destinations in the metropolitan area.
What the multi-day trips are like
The packages last 4 days and 3 nights and are tailored for groups of seniors. The groups depart from municipalities in the province of Buenos Aires, and once at their destination, they pay nothing for the hotel, meals, or transportation to the excursions.
The destinations listed by the province for these trips are:
- Mar del Plata
- Buenos Aires City
- Villa Carlos Paz (Córdoba)
- Embalse (Córdoba)
- San Pedro de Colalao (Tucumán)
According to the Buenos Aires provincial government, the program has already taken 14,000 people from 50 municipalities on trips and plans to add 18,000 more. Retirees can travel with companions, who also receive benefits.
Day Trips
For those who prefer a shorter trip, there are day trips to Buenos Aires, La Plata, Tigre, and Chascomús, among other destinations. The program also includes trips to cultural festivals, such as Cultura Campo, which takes place in Junín.
These trips are aimed primarily at retirees from the province’s interior, who often do not have the opportunity to tour the metropolitan area in a group and at no cost.
Discounts for Family Travel
Turismo Grande isn’t limited to free trips. Those who decide to travel with their families to destinations throughout the country can take advantage of benefits from Banco Provincia: discounts and payment plans at restaurants, hotels, for tickets, and at movie theaters and theaters.
How to check dates and availability
Trips depart weekly from different municipalities, so the available dates and locations depend on where you live. Complete information about the program is available on the official Turismo Grande website. It’s a good idea to check there before making plans and to have your ANSES or IPS ID card on hand.
