The long weekend of May 1 is just around the corner. If you want to get out of the city, go somewhere nearby without spending a lot, and join in on a party or celebration, we have the perfect suggestion: on May 2 and 3 in Cazón—known as “the town of a million trees”— the Fried Cake and Hot Chocolate Festival will be held for the first time, with free admission, of course .
The Fried Cake and Hot Chocolate Festival, less than 2 hours from Buenos Aires, in a town with a forest perfect for the long May weekend
You can take an affordable two-day getaway or spend the entire first long weekend of May in Cazón, because for two days, the Cazón railway grounds will be filled with activities to enjoy during the first celebration of the Fried Cake and Hot Chocolate Festival —isn’t that a great fall plan?
A food festival less than 2 hours from Buenos Aires
At this culinary celebration, you’ll be able to enjoy homemade fried cakes and the best hot chocolate. But there’s much more, because you can also participate in the Best Fried Cake Contest (with prizes), enjoy the artisans’ and entrepreneurs’ fair, sample everything at the food court featuring local options, and enjoy live music.
If you’re not familiar with Cazón, it’s a small town in Buenos Aires province, just 170 km from the city of Buenos Aires, with a population of barely 200, surrounded by a vast forest that makes it one of the greenest spots in the province.
In fact, Cazón is home to the Eduardo Holmberg Municipal Arboretum, a space spanning over 200 hectares with trails, natural tunnels, and surprising biodiversity.
So, in addition to eating the best tortas fritas, you can walk among the trees, go birdwatching, and, of course, escape the noise of the city.
Cazón is about 180 km from Buenos Aires, near Saladillo, making it an ideal option for a day trip or a weekend getaway.
