If you want to organize an afternoon snack with friends, if you are looking for a beautiful place to have lunch or just want to have a coffee in a special place in Buenos Aires, how about this art deco palace that opened a coffee shop among statues and architecture of the twentieth century?
This 1923 Art Deco palace in Buenos Aires hides a coffee shop among statues and stained glass windows on the first floor.
The corner of Recoleta where this Art Deco Palace is located is well known because for a long time it was the headquarters of the Syrian Lebanese Club and one of the most famous Arab restaurants in Buenos Aires. That building on the corner of Pacheco de Melo and Larrea is not just any building: it is the Basavilbaso Palace and from now on you can discover it from inside with a cup of coffee or whatever you want because it has its own cafeteria and it is never a bad idea to have a snack in a Palace. What do you think?
The Basavilbaso Palace is one of the Art Deco palaces in Buenos Aires that do not go unnoticed. It was built in 1923 by architect Alejandro Virasoro and throughout time, it was the headquarters of the Syrian Lebanese Club. It was abandoned for a long time until the project to put a cafeteria on the first floor revived it and today it is one of the palaces of Buenos Aires where you can have a snack, eat and enjoy a good coffee surrounded by history.
In the cafeteria of the Basavilbaso Palace, the original marble coexists with the monumental staircases and the restored stained glass windows. Among all this typical Art Deco architecture there are tables for lunch and snacks, and in the future a restaurant and a rooftop bar are expected to be opened.
The menu includes cakes, specialty coffee, avocado toast, hummus with falafel, Fattoush salad, club sandwich and even lasagna. Fact: breakfast can cost around 15,000 pesos.
