Bus fares, subway fares and tolls will increase as from this Friday. This is not a single increase because the fare update will follow a monthly scheme based on inflation, with automatic adjustments in the following months. The new values of the transport from this Friday onwards are as follows….
The new values of bus fares in CABA
From today, the bus ticket in the City of Buenos Aires increases 10%. This increase affects the 31 lines that operate exclusively within the City of Buenos Aires. In addition, since April, the fare will be updated monthly by adding an additional 2% to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
A good thing: discounts and benefits such as the Social Fare, the Student Ticket and the SUBE Network, which allow reducing the cost of fares for those who combine different means of transportation, are still in force.
With this February increase, the minimum bus fare will be $408.24.
Traveling by Subway, more expensive
The Buenos Aires subway also applies a fare adjustment but starting on Friday, February 28. The fare with a registered SUBE card goes from $757 to $832, while with the unregistered Sube, you will pay $1,322.88 per trip.
If you do not want to overpay in the Subway, make sure you have a registered Sube card. If you haven’t done it yet, register your Sube quickly and easily.
The discount system for frequent passengers is maintained: from the 21st trip in the month, the ticket has progressive reductions of 20%, 30% and 40% for those who exceed 20, 30 and 40 monthly trips, respectively.
Remember that the Sube is just one of many ways to pay for the subway. Do you know how to pay on the spot with your debit or credit card?
Buenos Aires tolls: the new values
Tolls on the highways of the City of Buenos Aires have also been modified. As from Friday, tolls will increase by 10%, although in some cases the increase will be higher depending on the time of the day and the type of vehicle.
