If you’re looking to work out in Buenos Aires without breaking the bank, there’s a spot that few people know about but offers one of the most comprehensive options—including scuba diving. We’ll tell you everything you need to know about swimming or working out at the Law School in Recoleta—and you don’t even have to be a student there!
Open swimming, swimming lessons, and scuba diving
The UBA Law School building is one of the most beautiful and striking buildings on Figueroa Alcorta Avenue, right next to the Buenos Aires Museum of Fine Arts
What you might not know is that this massive building has a gym with many sports activities open to law school students, students from other UBA schools, and the general public.
And in addition to the gym, the Law School has a heated pool where you can swim on your own, take lessons with an instructor, and even go scuba diving.
Open pool hours are available every day (from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and Saturday mornings), in addition to swimming lessons with an instructor and more technical training sessions. There are also options like aquagym and adapted activities.
Boxing, kickboxing, and training
If you prefer something more intense that doesn’t involve getting wet, at the Law School you can also practice technical boxing and physical conditioning, as well as kickboxing, integral yoga, aikido, karate, and weight training. And if you’re more into recreational sports, there are mixed soccer, basketball, volleyball, and handball classes.
Sports, diving, and art
The Law School also functions as a hidden gem of a museum : its hallways and rooms are filled with works of art. In the Hall of Lost Steps, one of the most impressive spaces where free concerts are also held, you’ll come across allegorical sculptures of Justice and Liberty, while in the Assembly Hall, a large-scale historical painting stands out, referencing the university’s origins.
But the art isn’t limited to the most visible spaces. Even in the underground pool , there are works designed specifically for that setting. Can you imagine swimming surrounded by art?
You’re probably wondering: the prices
To participate in any of these sports or access the pool and any other sports activities at the UBA Law School, you must pay a registration fee and the fee for each activity you choose. In 2026, for example, the registration fee for visitors (that is, anyone who is not a student or faculty member at any UBA school) is 13,000 pesos. And to give you an idea, the fee for open pool access is $41,500 per month for visitors as well.
Here’s the link so you can check the fees for the activities and the schedules.
