On Saturday, November 21, and Sunday, November 22, 2026, O’Brien, a small town in the province of Buenos Aires near Bragado, will celebrate its Traditionalist Festival.
If the town’s name doesn’t ring a bell, you’re in good company: most people from Buenos Aires wouldn’t be able to locate it on a map. That’s exactly why it’s a great excuse for a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.
A gaucho festival surrounded by nature
The O’Brien Traditionalist Festival is a gaucho-style celebration that the town holds every year in November. It’s part of the series of late-fall festivals featured on the provincial calendar, and its 2026 date has already been confirmed.
In addition to wrapping up the festival with a bonfire, at this country festival near CABA you’ll find:
- In the main square: Stalls featuring a craft fair and regional products.
- Recreo Molina Ocampos: Drum performance and traditional Argentine lunch with guest traditionalist groups.
- Parades: Institutional parade and criollo parade.
- Entertainment: Traditional music, folklore, and dance shows at

How to get there
To get to Eduardo O’Brien, you’ll need to travel about 250 kilometers west. Since the train isn’t running, driving is obviously the fastest and easiest way to get there (it takes about 3 hours and 45 minutes via Acceso Oeste (National Route 7), and once you reach Luján, you’ll need to take the exit onto National Route 5 toward Mercedes / Chivilcoy / Bragado). Then take National Route 5 until you reach the roundabout leading to Bragado. From there, take Provincial Route 46 northwest until you see the signposted turnoff for O’Brien.
