From Thursday, April 2, through Sunday, April 5, we are in Holy Week. If you need to know how services, hospitals, transportation, and businesses in Buenos Aires will operate during this long Easter holiday, we’ve got all the details below:
1. Public Health
👉Public hospitals: operating with on-call staff, critical care units, SAME, and Emergency Fever Units.
👉Cemeteries: Burials at Chacarita, Flores, and Recoleta, as well as entry to the Crematorium, will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Last registration at 1:00 p.m.; last burial at 1:30 p.m.
👉Civil Registry: closed, except for the death registry, which will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
👉Police, Fire Department, and emergency lines (911 and 103): operating 24 hours a day.
2. Education and Public Administration
👉Schools: closed both days.
👉Municipal Offices, AGIP, and the General Revenue Directorate: closed.
👉General Directorate of Traffic Violations and the Roca office of the Driver’s License Registry: closed.
👉Driver training track: open during regular hours, by appointment only.
3. Transportation and Mobility
👉Subway and Premetro: On Thursday, they will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; on Friday, with holiday hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m./10:00 p.m., depending on the line.
👉Ecobici: will operate normally on Thursday; on Friday, intensive passes (monthly and annual), recreational passes (single-trip and daily), and tourist passes (single-trip, daily, three-day, and seven-day) will be available.
👉Toll Booths: Will operate normally, with weekend peak hours: from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. toward the Province and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. toward Downtown.
👉Parking: permitted on avenues and streets where parking is normally prohibited on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Metered parking will not be in effect. Parking is prohibited in alleys, streets with Metrobús lanes, shared-use streets, and spaces parallel to bike lanes 24 hours a day.
4. Urban services, public theaters, and museums
👉Garbage collection: will operate as usual.
👉Vehicle Technical Inspection (VTV): all seven facilities are open on Thursday; they will remain closed on Friday.
👉Cultural and recreational spaces
👉Museums: open on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; closed on Friday.
👉Monumental Tower: open on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; closed on Friday.
👉Planetarium: open both days.
👉Public libraries: Güiraldes, Parque de la Estación, Casa de la Escritura y la Lectura, and Reina Batata, open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
👉Buenos Aires Theater Complex and San Martín Cultural Center: closed.
👉25 de Mayo Cultural Center and Recoleta Cultural Center: open on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; closed on Thursday.
👉Usina del Arte: closed.
👉Teatro Colón: open.
5. Parks and nature reserves
👉Carlos Thays Botanical Garden: open on Thursday; closed on Friday.
👉Ecoparque: open both days.
👉Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, Costanera Norte, and Lake Lugano: open on Thursday; closed on Friday.
