Buenos Aires is home to one of the most impressive works of musical engineering in Latin America. It is the Klais Opus 1912 Organ, and it is precisely this magnificent instrument that will once again be played at a special gala marking the anniversary of the May Revolution.
A 30-ton musical giant will ring out once again to celebrate this May 25
The Klais Opus 1912 Organ is a masterpiece of organ building, specially designed by the German firm Johannes Klais Orgelbau for the Symphony Hall of the Palacio Libertad in 2015.
The instrument’s sheer size is impressive and makes it one of the largest organs in Latin America. When you go to hear a concert at the Palacio Libertad, you won’t notice it, but this organ has 3,633 pipes, ranging from tiny pipes just a few millimeters wide to structures 10 meters tall; it weighs about 30 tons, and its acoustics are inspired by the French symphonic tradition.
In addition, it incorporates state-of-the-art technology into its sound, including MIDI connectivity, touchscreens, and a Wi-Fi system.
The truth is that hearing any melody played on the Klais Opus 1912 Organ is an unparalleled experience, and this May 25 you can hear it play for free.
