This Saturday , February 1, downtown Buenos Aires is the scene of the Federal March of the Anti-Fascist and Anti-Racist Pride, a mobilization called by unions and organizations of the LGBTIQ+ community in rejection of the statements of President Javier Milei and government initiatives that seek to modify existing regulations. We tell you what time it starts, meeting point and route.
Why is the February 1st march taking place?
The main reason for the protest is the opposition to the proposal of “equality before the law” promoted by the Executive, which includes the elimination of certain policies, such as the recognition of femicide as a criminal aggravating circumstance, the non-binary document and the trans labor quota.
Route and schedule of the mobilization in Buenos Aires
The demonstration on February 1st begins at 4 pm at the National Congress, from where it will be marched to Plaza de Mayo. Although the main call is in the City of Buenos Aires, it is also expected that there will be demonstrations in different parts of the country. In addition to the march in the capital, several localities will organize simultaneous activities.
There will probably be fences and police presence, so traffic will be heavy and will not move smoothly. If you have to circulate for work in the area of Av. Rivadavia and Callao or Plaza de Mayo between 4pm and 7pm, consider that some of the bus lines that pass through the area (37, 151, 12) will be diverted.
For this reason, the Congreso area and a wide radius, from Av. Corrientes and Callao to Rivadavia and Junin and the streets beyond Hipolito Irigoyen will be affected, as well as all the traffic in the Balvanera neighborhood.
