A Viceroyalty Dance with period music at the Cabildo of Buenos Aires.
This March 15, the Cabildo of Buenos Aires is transformed as in its best times, those of open cabildos, revolutions and carriages, to offer a unique night: a night of colonial dance , where you dress up as in the time of the viceroyalty and hide behind your fan while you dance to the music of the time.
Surely you know the Victorian ballsthat the Bridgerton series portrays very well and that can also be experienced in Buenos Aires.
The period dance at the Cabildo is the Creole version of those dances, where, on this occasion, you dress as the ladies and gentlemen dressed in colonial times and even dance to the same tunes. This night of dancing at the Cabildo features the participation of the ensemble “Antigua y Virreynal” from the National University of La Matanza, which specializes in playing the characteristic music of the Viceroyalties of the Río de La Plata and Peru.
It will be a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the melodies that resounded in the celebrations of the 18th and 19th centuries.
How to dress for the occasion: Dresscode Empire, the fashion of the Viceroyalty
If you attend this unique night to relive the 18th century at the Cabildo, you have to comply with a dresscode according to the Empire style, also known as Regency in England. this was the style that predominated between 1790 and 1825, elegant and simple.
