The Chinese New Year celebrations in Buenos Aires are approaching, and to kick off the festivities, dragons, lions, martial arts, oriental cuisine, and international shows await you on Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22, in La Plata to begin celebrating the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Fire Horse.
Chinese New Year 2026: La Plata celebrates the Year of the Fire Horse with a mega festival
The Chinese New Year celebration welcoming the Year of the Fire Horse in La Plata is free and open to the public, starting at 12 noon. You will enjoy more than 50 performances on the main stage and nearly 200 food and craft stalls.
In addition to world-class shows featuring artists from China, you will be introduced to ancient traditions, traditional dances, and ancestral rituals.

During the celebration, there will also be a Chinatown where you can enjoy oriental food and attractions typical of Asian culture, as well as the Manos Platenses Fair artisan walk.

Don’t miss the ancient calligraphy workshops, Chinese stick games, paper cutting techniques, tea tastings with the traditional Tea Ceremony, and martial arts, dragon and traditional ritual exhibitions.
One of the main attractions will be the Martial Arts Gathering, where you can learn about and practice traditional Chinese disciplines such as Kung Fu and Tai Chi, along with other Asian arts such as Taekwondo, Karate, and Judo.
As every year, the main protagonists are the Chinese lions and dragons, which will participate in the Pupil Nailing Ceremony, a ritual that seeks to attract prosperity, good fortune, and positive energy for all those present.
The main stage will come alive from midday with performances. Among the featured artists are: Along, the revelation of Chinese pop, Chino Cuartetero, a sensation on social media, and the company Tango por la Paz.
You will also find an Imperial Chinese Fashion show, traditional dances, K-Pop shows, different Asian rhythms, and the closing act by bands from La Plata and DJ sets.
