Did you think only sports get your adrenaline pumping? That’s because you’ve never tried assembling a puzzle at top speed, competing against others who, just like you, want to finish first and win a prize. If nothing seems more fun to you than a jigsaw puzzle championship, on November 7 and 8, Buenos Aires will host an International Jigsaw Puzzle Championship, where the best puzzlers from the country and the region will test their speed and skill by assembling a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle against the clock.
Jigsaw puzzle championships keep growing: Where to solve jigsaw puzzles against the clock in Argentina and around the world
The Buenos Aires and national scene features an increasingly popular circuit of regular events where puzzle enthusiasts gather in pairs, groups, or as individuals to have a good time, compete against other solvers, and, in the best-case scenario, win a prize.
Throughout the year, the Photo Puzzle community (on Instagram: @photo.puzzle.ok) organizes blitz tournaments, open-puzzle sessions, and monthly leagues in Buenos Aires and other cities such as Córdoba and Rosario, where enthusiasts of all skill levels gather to practice, swap puzzle boxes, and hone their speed-solving techniques.
The world of jigsaw puzzles is thrilling! Once you try it, you’ll be hooked. You’ve been warned.
These events serve as training for official competitions and are part of a network connected to tournaments in neighboring countries and the global speed puzzling circuit. If you’re traveling through Chile, tournaments are held there as well.
Puzzle Chess: What is that?
Puzzle Chess adapts the rules of chess to puzzle-solving using a stopwatch with a push button. In Puzzle Chess, participants or pairs take turns finding and placing pieces on the table, and must press the button on the stopwatch when they finish their move to pass the turn and the countdown to their opponent.
How to participate in the November International Jigsaw Puzzle Championship in Buenos Aires
The international championship takes place on November 7 and 8 at the NH Collection Buenos Aires Centro Histórico Hotel. In this championship, you’ll complete complex images in record time, with categories divided into Individual, Pairs, and Teams (featuring puzzles with 300, 500, and even 1,000 pieces).
The goal is to crown the kings of South American speed puzzling in a competition where every second counts. The event spans two days, but the first will be dedicated to getting to know one another and free puzzling, with relaxed challenges and rounds of Puzzle Chess to warm up.
On the second day of the championship, November 8, the timed qualifying rounds will take place, followed by the awards ceremony. To secure a spot on the starting grid for this international event, advance registration must be completed directly through the official Photo Puzzle website.
