More than 1,300 racks of ribs on the grill: This is how May 1st is celebrated in this town in Buenos Aires
If you’re looking for something to do on May 1st— a holiday that gives us a long weekend—the Festival del Costillas Criollo is a must-see if you’re near Buenos Aires. This festival is in its fourth year; it takes place on May 1st in the town of Uribelarrea, where over 1,300 racks of ribs will be grilled. Get ready for rows of grills, fires lit early in the morning, and the aroma of barbecue.
At this festival, you’ll spend a full day outdoors where, in addition to enjoying barbecue, you’ll experience musical performances, live artists, and a full-on party this May 1st.
You’ll also be able to explore an entrepreneurs’ fair and various food stalls.
How to get there
Uribelarrea is in the district of Cañuelas, about 90 km from Buenos Aires, so it’s perfect for a day trip or a weekend getaway. You can get there by car via the Ezeiza–Cañuelas Highway; it’s a direct drive of less than two hours from Buenos Aires. Remember that admission to the festival is free.
