If you’re interested in history, books, and objects with a past, on May 9 and 10, the National Historical Museum will host the Rare Book Fair, an event where you can discover rare books, hard-to-find editions, and experts who invite you to explore unique pieces of our bibliographic heritage.
A journey through 19th-century Argentina through books
The Rare Book Fair offers a journey through the so-called “long 19th century,” a pivotal period spanning from the British Invasions to the Centennial, where you’ll be able to view original editions from the era, as well as reference books, historical studies, and critical works that help shed light on how modern Argentina took shape.
A fair featuring rare books and exclusive editions arrives at the Buenos Aires History Museum with free admission
The selection is designed for collectors as well as the curious, students, and book lovers: there is material to explore, learn from, and, why not, discover some unexpected gems. Antiquarian bookstores from across the country participate, exhibiting and making available hard-to-find copies.
19th-century photography on display
One of the highlights you won’t want to miss is the wet collodion demonstration, a 19th-century photographic technique: from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., you’ll be able to watch live as images are developed on glass plates, just as they were over 150 years ago.
