Did you know that hidden in the heart of the Palermo Woods is an open-air museum where the city’s statues are “restored”? This Saturday, October 24, the MOA celebrates its 70th anniversary with an evening of exploring statues under the stars.
Monuments Under the Stars: Palermo’s Hidden Gem You Have to Discover This Weekend
Buenos Aires has more than 2,400 sculptures and monuments scattered throughout its streets, parks, and plazas, but there’s a secret spot where all these works receive a little TLC when the weather or vandalism damages them. That place is the MOA (Monumentos y Obras de Arte), a “statue hospital” located in the heart of the Palermo woods, and on October 24, it will be open at night so you can explore it under the moonlight.
If exploring it during the day is already a great plan, imagine doing it at night. This is the fifth edition of Monuments Under the Stars, a free event celebrating the 70th anniversary of this workshop by opening up spaces that are never usually available to the public—but tonight they are!
Art, hidden workshops, live music, and living statues
This Saturday, October 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., you’ll be able to stroll among works of art under the open sky and get a taste of the mystery of visiting an open-air museum as special as this one. One of the main highlights is the Sculpture Courtyard; join guided tours of the restoration workshops, explore the historical archive, and visit the exhibition hall.
Plus, the evening will feature a vinyl set and live performances by Crewrod, Abril Olivera, and Surfistas del Sistema. You’ll also be able to grab a delicious bite to eat at the food court.
The MOA operates year-round as a free open-air museum. If you’d like to take an in-depth guided tour at another time, you can arrange it by emailing visitas.moa@buenosaires.gob.ar.
