No one likes having tax debts, but if you do, when opportunities arise to clear your debts with significant benefits, you should take advantage of them. If you’re a little behind on your ABL bills or owe vehicle registration fees, we have good news for you: AGIP has just launched a payment plan that seems too good to be true.
The Buenos Aires City Government has established a transitional program to settle ABL, property tax, and vehicle registration tax debts with impressive discounts and installment payment plans. Want to know if you’re eligible and how to apply? Here’s the definitive guide.
Which debts are covered by the AGIP moratorium?
This plan is designed for taxpayers in the City of Buenos Aires (CABA) who have unpaid obligations incurred before October 1, 2026. You can include:
- Vehicle Registration Taxes in General.
- Lighting, Street Sweeping, and Sanitation Tax (ABL).
- Property Tax.
- Debts from previous payment plans that expired or were canceled before that same date.
Note: The principal amount owed (excluding interest) cannot exceed $5,940,000 per property, vehicle registration, or tax.
100% discounts or up to 12 installments: the best way to pay
AGIP has designed two different options depending on your budget. Both offer huge savings on interest:
- Lump-Sum Payment (The Ideal Option): If you have the savings to pay off the entire principal in a single payment, the City will waive 100% of the penalty interest. You pay the original principal and that’s the end of it.
- Payment Plan (Up to 12 Installments): If you prefer to finance your payments, you can do so in up to 12 equal, consecutive monthly installments. In this case, 50% of the penalty interest is reduced, and the financing interest on the plan is fully waived.
Step-by-Step Guide to Enrolling in the Plan
The entire process is online, and there’s a deadline: applications can be submitted through December 31, 2026.
To sign up, you must meet these requirements:
- Log in to the official AGIP website using your Level 3 miBA password.
- You must have an Electronic Tax Address on file.
- Provide a CBU (Uniform Bank Code) from which your installments or lump-sum payment will be automatically debited.
Who CANNOT participate in this plan
Well, it couldn’t all be rosy. The following are excluded from this benefit:
- Debts that are already part of an active payment plan.
- Debts that are subject to legal proceedings or for which tax enforcement is underway.
- Fines imposed by AGIP.
- Debts of taxpayers in bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings.
If your debt meets the requirements, don’t wait! That way, you’ll start 2027 debt-free.
