In December 2025, Rosalía and Mariana Enriquez met at the Los Galgos bar for a relaxed chat where they got to know each other and asked all sorts of questions to reveal a little more about themselves as public figures and as people as part of Spotify Presents. When the conversation between Rosalía and Enriquez finally came out on Spotify a few weeks ago, it was a huge hit. Today, Rosalía is apologizing on social media for one of her comments. If you missed it and don’t know how we went from one thing to the other, we’ll explain it to you.
Rosalía and Mariana Enriquez together at Los Galgos: the Proust Questionnaire and the conversation that went viral on social media
Los Galgos, one of Buenos Aires’ most iconic cafés, closed its doors to the public for a few hours in December 2025 so that Rosalía and Mariana Enriquez could sit face-to-face for a unique conversation between one of Argentina’s most important writers and one of Spain’s most famous singers—while eating croissants with café con leche!
The meeting was part of Spotify Presents, a new series on the platform dedicated to the creative process and the behind-the-scenes lives of artists. The choice of Mariana Enriquez as the interviewer was no accident: Rosalía had already recommended her days earlier on Luzu TV, saying of her book *Las cosas que perdimos en el fuego*: “She’s incredible; you read it and go, ‘aaahh,’ with such pleasure.”
As the interviewer, Mariana Enriquez chose to follow the Proust Questionnaire—a set of personal questions with a psychological perspective—perhaps to get to know the person behind the artist?
The result was an interesting interview that offered insight into both artists, with phrases from Rosalía’s answers still resonating, and one in particular—the very one that prompted her to post a video on her social media apologizing for one of her comments.
Both spoke about poetry (Ocean Vuong, Lorca, Anne Carson), about not taking everything so seriously, and about a philosophy of life that Rosalía summed up in one sentence: “To love deeply is better than to love a little.”
Why Rosalía Had to Apologize on Social Media: Picasso, Gay Men, Feminism, and Croissants
The most viral moment came when asked what quality she valued most in a man, and her answer was the one that resonated most in the media: “And… that he’s gay.” But when the question was repeated for a woman, the tone changed: “And in a woman? I might suddenly say: how curious that you make that distinction… why?” Both Rosalía and Mariana Enriquez agreed that people exist beyond the binary distinction. But the comment that earned Rosalía a lot of negative feedback had to do with her remarks about Pablo Picasso.
“I really like Picasso, and it’s never bothered me to separate the artist from the work. Maybe I wouldn’t have liked him as much given what I’ve been told, but who knows—maybe I would. I don’t know, and I don’t care; I enjoy his work.”
Social media exploded. Users reminded her in their comments of the documented abuse Picasso perpetrated against his partners and some women in his life.
Days later, Rosalía appeared on TikTok in a video where she speaks directly and apologizes: “I’m not at peace with what I said about Picasso. Everyone is telling me not to make a video, but personally, I’m not at peace. I wasn’t aware there were actual cases of abuse. It’s important not to talk about certain topics when you don’t have enough knowledge.”
Rosalía also responded to those accusing her of shying away from feminism: “I’m afraid to identify as a feminist because I don’t feel I’m a good enough representation of it.” And regarding the pressure to take a stance on everything: “If you’re not on one side and you say so very clearly, it seems like you’re on the other.”
Mariana Enriquez later described Rosalía as “a very unusual celebrity: very calm, loving, and interested.” Rosalía will return to Buenos Aires for a series of concerts featuring her new album LUX at the Movistar Arena from August 1 to 6, 2026.
