Getting to Parque de los Niños by public transport is now much easier because there is a bus line that takes you there directly. What’s more, this line takes you from Chinatown to Parque de los Niños on the same route. It is the new branch of line 42, and we will tell you where to catch this bus and the route so that you can enjoy Parque de los Niños using only your SUBE card.
This is the bus that drops you off at the entrance to Parque de los Niños: direct, no transfers, and only with your SUBE card.
Bus line 42 has extended its route to include a new branch, and this new branch connects directly to Parque de los Niños. With this change, Branch 3 of line 42 (which runs from Pompeya to Ciudad Universitaria) drops you off at Parque de los Niños, without having to walk or make any strange connections.
Before, getting to this point meant walking several blocks from distant stops, but now the bus drops you off practically at the door.
In fact, the three branches of line 42 share their main route through Caballito, Chacarita, and Barrancas de Belgrano. Branch 3 of line 42 is the one that takes you directly to the park: from Avenida del Libertador, it continues along Virrey Vértiz, Echeverría, Figueroa Alcorta, and Guillermo Udaondo, takes the Avenida Cantilo collector road, and ends at Tambor de Tacuarí, the street leading to the park, in front of the river.
What is the route of Line 42 branch 3 that takes you to the Children’s Park?
Line 42 starts in the south of Buenos Aires, at the intersection of Avenida Amancio Alcorta and Oscar Natalio Bonavena, in Pompeya, and crosses the city from one end to the other. On its route, it passes through Parque Chacabuco, Caballito, and Chacarita and connects with key transportation hubs such as the Lacroze station of the Urquiza Railway and Subway Line B, as well as Lisandro de la Torre and Belgrano C of the Mitre Train. Up to Barrancas de Belgrano, the three branches share the same route, and from that point on they diverge, with Branch 3 continuing towards Núñez and the river.
Branch 3 follows the traditional route to Libertador and from there enters an area with limited public transport connections. When it takes the Avenida Cantilo collector road, it becomes the only bus that runs along that stretch, also facilitating access to the CUBA club, the Núñez Naval Center, and the River Plate grounds on Cantilo. Its route ends at Tambor de Tacuarí, right at the entrance to the Parque de los Niños, making it one of the simplest and most direct ways to get to the river without using a car.
What is Parque de los Niños and why is it one of the most beautiful parks in Buenos Aires?
Parque de los Niños is a green space covering more than 30 hectares on the coast of the Río de la Plata. If you’ve never been there, it has trails for walking and cycling, shaded areas for picnics, recreational spaces for children, natural viewpoints, and lots of greenery. In summer, you’ll also find a sandy area and free activities, just like at the beach but in the middle of the city.
Admission is free, and it is one of the most popular parks for spending the day by the river without leaving Buenos Aires.
