There are places in Buenos Aires that seem suspended in time. One of those corners, hidden from the view of most, is hidden at the top of the Otto Wulff Building, an icon of Buenos Aires architecture that opens every month so you can learn about its mysteries and take a guided tour to its dome in a series of tastings and exclusive tastings.
This is the building of the 300 sculptures in Buenos Aires that you can visit up to its dome with a glass of wine.
Built between 1912 and 1914, the Otto Wulff Building is one of the most impressive pieces of architecture in the Monserrat neighborhood, right on the corner of Belgrano and Peru. You have probably passed by many times without knowing the story behind one of the most beautiful domed buildings in Buenos Aires.
The building was commissioned by German-Danish businessman Otto Wulff and designed by architect Morten F. Rønnow and at the time was one of the first buildings in Buenos Aires to use reinforced concrete and reach a height of almost 60 meters.

The style of the Otto Wullf is a mixture of Jugendstil (the German version of Art Nouveau) and Nordic references, and you will recognize it by all the sculptures that cover its facade. It is known as the building of the 600 eyes or the 300 sculptures, if you add up all the eyes of the sculptures it has: eight Atlanteans of more than five meters hold the balconies, fantastic animals carved in stone such as owls, condors, bears, snakes and penguins and much more.
In fact, it is estimated that there are more than 680 sculptural “eyes” on the entire surface of the building, carved in stone and iron.
These figures are not just decorative: they represent wisdom (owls), strength (bears and condors), renewal (snakes) and vigilance (the eyes).
