A journey to the heart of the “Petit Colón” in Villa Urquiza
The 25 de Mayo Cultural Center is a true treasure of Buenos Aires. It’s located in the Villa Urquiza neighborhood and was inaugurated in 1929. It’s known as the “Petit Colón” for its eclectic architecture, its gilded boxes, and its enviable acoustics. It’s much smaller than the Teatro Colón, but listening to a concert in its main hall makes you feel as if you were right there. It’s so important that legends like Carlos Gardel have graced its stages.
The Pink Panther: the cartoon that redefined jazz, this vacation, in concert
The Pink Panther cartoons were created by David DePatie and Friz Freleng and quickly became a phenomenon because they were silent cartoons. With no dialogue, the humor (always very subtle) and the character’s jokes depended purely and exclusively on visual expression and, of course, on the music. That’s where composer Henry Mancini comes in. He was the one who created the unmistakable saxophone melody that anyone who has ever seen *The Pink Panther* knows how to hum.

This July 24, you’ll be able to experience the magic of The Pink Panther episodes with Henry Mancini’s music performed by a six-piece orchestra of top-tier musicians who will set the mood and provide the soundtrack for the episodes projected on the giant screen. Based on Mancini’s original scores, the band adds jazz improvisation, sound effects, and short dialogues that interact directly with the screen.
This show has been touring different venues in Buenos Aires and the province of Buenos Aires for over a decade. If you can’t make it to the July 24 performance, there’s a second show on August 2.
