How to participate in the guided tours to the Obelisk viewpoint and how to sign up to take the Obelisk elevator to the top.
The Obelisk viewpoint opens in Buenos Aires from May 1 to 4.
The first visits will be from Thursday May 1 to Sunday May 4, exclusively for CABA residents over 18 years old.
To participate you must register in advance through the link available in the bio of @baparticipacionciudadana on Instagram. The activity is free but with limited spaces, and confirmation is made by email.
Access to the viewpoint will be through the internal staircase of the monument, so it is not suitable for people with reduced mobility, vertigo or fear of heights.
To enter the Obelisk viewpoint you have to go to the Plaza de la República, right where Corrientes and 9 de Julio Avenues meet. For the ascent there are eight steps and a state-of-the-art glass elevator that reaches the top of the Obelisk, the famous point seen from all sides, in just one minute.
In addition to the internal elevator, there is a metal spiral staircase surrounding the elevator structure as an emergency exit. Once at the top, where the elevator ends, you have to climb 35 steps to reach the windows from where you can see Buenos Aires in all its splendor. At the top or tip of the Obelisk you will find the four openings or windows that allow you to see Buenos Aires from an unprecedented perspective, making it one of the best viewpoints in the city.
In addition to preparing the Obelisk to become one of the many viewpoints that Buenos Aires has, the installation of the elevator was used to preserve its historical integrity and adapt its electrical installations.
