Buenos Aires has one of the most elegant fast food places in the world. It is in an emblematic historic building in Retiro. The difference between this food place and the others is that between hamburger and hamburger you can admire the stained glass windows, the centenary lamps that hang and have your drink like in the XIX century. Don’t you know where it is? We tell you where to find the most elegant burger place in Buenos Aires and order a combo with a view of the Monumental Tower.
From Café Notable to Burger King: where to eat a hamburger like in the XIX century.
In Retiro, inside the train station and right where Café Retiro used to be located, today there is a Burger King. We all pass by the Retiro train station very quickly but it is an impressive building that preserves intact many of its structures and period designs.
In fact, in order for the Burger King store to operate inside this historic building, it had to keep its original furnishings intact: the wooden boiserie, the classic columns and moldings, the large openings and even the vitraux dome that is inevitable to look at when you enter this Buenos Aires station.
Retiro Station was founded in 1915 and is declared a National Historic Monument, which prevents structural modifications. That’s why, when you enter, what could look like a typical fast food place turns into an unexpected trip to the porteño past because you are going to eat your menu and your modern hamburger in a 100-year-old environment.
Although the combos and trays are the same as at any other Burger King location, the setting is completely different. Sitting down to eat under a vitraux dome and surrounded by hardwoods is a very interesting experience. So go ahead and enjoy it.
