There is a paradise for lovers of panchos and beer, and it is a pharmacy. Actually, it was. In San Telmo there is an old pharmacy that has been transformed into the panchería that sells the longest panchos in Buenos Aires.
The 1900’s pharmacy in San Telmo that serves panchos as long as your forearm and closes at 5 am.
For more than a century, from 1905 to 2017, where Santo Remedio panchería in San Telmo operates today, there was a century-old pharmacy and apothecary. The facade, the wooden furniture, the old scales and even the little glass bottles are still intact, so every time you go in to order a pancho you feel like an apothecary from the last century because this panchería pharmacy preserves much of the original furniture.
But what makes Santo Remedio a must stop is their XXL menu. They have 20 varieties of sausages made in-house (15 German) in versions of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, salmon and also vegan and TACC-free. Among the plant-based options, the star is the beet, spinach and mung bean sausages.
The panchería that sells extra-large hot dogs and more than 80 sauces.
If you are in San Telmo and you are starving, here you can choose between the super pancho or the giant pancho, which is bigger than your forearm and is perfect for sharing and, in addition, you can season it with any of its 80 sauces. To make your visit to this special pharmacy even better, you can accompany your pancho with some of the beers from the 25 taps they have.
Eating panchos until 5 a.m.
In Santo Remedio you can, because in addition to being an old pharmacy transformed into a panchería, Santo Remedio is open from Sunday to Thursday until 3 am and Fridays and Saturdays until 5 am.
