Buenos Aires has many palaces and one of the most beautiful is on Azcuénaga Street. It is the Lagomarsino Palace, one of the Art Nouveau residences that still remain in the city.
Lagomarsino Palace: How to visit this Art Nouveau palace for free
Built in 1920 by Italian architect Virginio Colombo, the Lagomarsino Palace was originally a petit hotel commissioned by Carlos Lagomarsino, a textile entrepreneur who sought to reflect his success and economic power. In fact, the Lagomarsino family only lived there for four years and after Carlos’ death, his wife decided to sell the property.
Since then, the building passed through different owners until 1985 when it was acquired by the Government of San Luis and became the headquarters of the Casa de San Luis in Buenos Aires. Today, this palace is not only still standing, but it opens its doors so you can visit it, walk through its history, its colorful stained glass windows, its imposing staircases and magnificent architecture.
Free guided tours: a not-to-be-missed opportunity
The free guided tours of the Lagomarsino Palace are back and offer a unique experience to visit its halls. The visits take place on Thursdays every two weeks, at two times: at 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm.
