Do you want to improve your English, practice your Spanish or simply meet people from all over the world without leaving Buenos Aires? Come and break the ice, practice the language of your choice and, by the way, you can also meet people. From bars with multilingual chats to quieter meetings where you can sit and chat, we leave you a guide with the best language exchange events in CABA.
1. Mundo Lingo: the classic of free meetings
Mundo Lingo is perhaps one of the best known events to practice any language in Buenos Aires. It is free, open to all ages and levels, and is organized several times a week in different bars of the city. Here’s how it works: each participant wears stickers with the flags of the languages they speak, so you can identify with whom to practice and chat. Mundolingo works all over the world and the language exchange in Buenos Aires usually takes place in well-known bars. This is the list of Mundolingo bars where you can meet to practice languages:
📍Tuesday 9pm – Bar Rio (Rio de Janeiro 28, CABA)
📍Wednesday 9pm – BAUM Catrina (Cabrera 4427)
📍Fridays 9 pm – Growlers (Olleros 3759)
📍Sundays 7 pm – Antares (Av. Pedro Goyena 1064)
2. Mate Club: relaxed conversation with limited capacity
If you prefer to attend a language exchange event in a more relaxed atmosphere and with a limited number of participants, Mate Club is ideal. It is designed for those who want to practice English fluently in small groups and in a more orderly environment. There is an entrance fee and prior registration is required.
📍Fridays – Mons Hostel (Azcuénaga 1896, CABA)
📍Saturdays – Rabieta Bar, Hipódromo de Palermo (Av. del Libertador 4101, CABA)
3. Spanglish Exchange: dynamic and fun
Spanglish Exchange proposes a “speed dating” type experience to practice English and Spanish: you will have 10-minute conversations with different interlocutors, alternating the language in each round so that you can practice more than one language and with more diverse people. It’s ideal for getting to know a lot of people in a short time, the language exchange to test your fluency!
📍Thursdays 7pm to 9pm – Jerome Bar (Uriarte 1602, Palermo)
4. BlaBla Language Exchange: meetings in San Telmo
Another excellent plan is the BlaBla Language Exchange, a multicultural community that organizes weekly language exchange meetings in San Telmo. No registration is required, just a desire to chat. It is ideal for practicing several languages in one place and in an informal environment.
