Slow cooking and plow-disc competition
The First Osobuco al Disco Festival is less than 2 hours from Buenos Aires, in Suipacha, the city known for its Cheese Route. From now on, it will also be known as the capital of Osobuco and the place where people compete to choose the best one. If you’re looking for things to do in July and you love traditional Argentine cuisine, wood-fired cooking, and slow cooking, we’ll give you all the details you need to plan the perfect getaway this Sunday.
One of the highlights of the Osobuco Festival is the Disc-Cooking Contest. Starting very early in the morning, all registered chefs and enthusiasts will light their fires to prepare their best osso buco recipes—a traditional cut that requires three to four hours of slow cooking to achieve that tender texture. Good osso buco melts in your mouth!
At noon, a panel of culinary experts will taste the dishes to award a prize for the best preparation, and starting at 1:30 p.m., everyone will be able to buy and sample portions of osso buco prepared live at affordable prices.
Live shows, crafts, and a small-town atmosphere
The Osobuco Festival in Suipacha and all its activities will take place at Plaza Almirante Brown, a space with a playground and a carousel near the train station. There you’ll find:
- Food Court: While osso buco is the star of the show, you’ll also be able to enjoy stalls serving traditional Argentine cuisine, regional sausages, and options for every taste.
- Artisans and Entrepreneurs Fair: Stalls featuring leather and wood crafts, country-style clothing, and local sweet treats.
- Cultural lineup: Live music shows, folk music, and performances for Sunday afternoon.
