A massive outdoor gathering of drummers in Buenos Aires this weekend
This gathering of hundreds of drummers outdoors in Buenos Aires is the first edition of Baterías a la Plaza. Baterías a la Plaza is a collective gathering where hundreds of drummers of all levels (from amateurs to professionals) come together in a public space and play in sync, with backing tracks, in front of an audience.
These massive gatherings of drummers playing the same melody began in Uruguay in 2021 and have since traveled to cities throughout Argentina, but had never been held in Buenos Aires until this May 30. Are you going to miss the first massive outdoor gathering of drummers?
Confirmed guests and their bands
The lineup for this massive gathering of drummers already features confirmed legendary names from the Argentine rock scene. The show kicks off at 4 p.m. at Arroyo Vega Park and is a must-see this weekend because it will also feature renowned drummers from Argentine rock bands playing for free just for you.
These are the drummers who will be joining on stage:
- Sebastián Cardero (Los Piojos)
- Fernando Scarcella (Rata Blanca)
- Andrea Álvarez — one of the most respected drummers on the Argentine scene
- Sebastián Peyceré (Los Abuelos de la Nada)
- Walter Sidotti
How Baterías a la Plaza works
Baterías a la Plaza is not a conventional concert nor a jam session where participating drummers improvise. No. The organizers share the setlist and guide materials in advance so that all drummers can play in sync with backing tracks during the show.
This massive drum concert lasts approximately 40 minutes, featuring 8 or 9 songs. The repertoire includes Argentine and international rock classics , as well as songs by the guest drummers’ own bands.
Where is Arroyo Vega Park on the Costanera Norte?
The first Baterías a la Plaza gathering in Buenos Aires will take place at Arroyo Vega Park, located at Costanera Rafael Obligado 4899. It is the park across from Aeroparque, closer to its northern end, right on the river.
If you decide to join this massive gathering of drummers, leave early because you’ll be driving, like most people, and finding a parking spot—especially on a weekend—isn’t easy.
How to sign up to play
If you want to participate as a drummer, you must register in advance through the official Baterías a la Plaza Instagram (@bateriasalaplaza). Here is the registration form and the guidelines for joining. Spots are limited.
Once you’ve registered, the organizers will share the setlist, song structures, and guide materials so you arrive at the event ready to play together.
Children under 7 cannot participate as drummers, but all ages are welcome to attend as audience members!
In previous editions, more than 300 drummers gathered to play simultaneously. Plus, it’s free, outdoors, and in a park. There’s no excuse not to go.
