Buenos Aires breathes tango with the Tango BA Festival. If you want to enjoy it outdoors this weekend, the Bondi Tanguero—the bus that brings the best of tango from neighborhood to neighborhood—will park next to the Galileo Galilei Planetarium so you can enjoy an afternoon of live music, outdoor dancing, and the spirit of Buenos Aires.
From a regular bus to a traveling milonga: the story on wheels
The Bondi Tanguero was launched in 2020 as an initiative by La Academia Tango Club: they modified a traditional city bus, opened up the sides, and set up a full stage with professional sound and lighting.

Why choose a tango dance hall when you can dance outdoors? The Bondi Tanguero takes the music from the milongas and brings it to the street corners, plazas, and parks in every neighborhood. This August 30, during vTango BA, the Bondi Tanguero is bringing its free milonga show to the Buenos Aires Planetarium—and you have no excuse not to give it a try.
During these weeks, Buenos Aires is all about tango, with international dance competitions, master classes, and massive recitals (many with free admission) that bring together the great masters with today’s young tango scene.
What Else to See at Tango BA: World Championship Semifinals and Major Concerts
The weekend of August 29 and 30 marks the most decisive moment of the festival before the grand finals. If you’re looking to put together a complete tango itinerary for these days, you can add:
- Semifinals at the Usina del Arte: On Saturday the 29th, the best Tango de Pista couples will compete, and on Sunday the 30th, it’s the turn of Tango Escenario (starting at 12:00 p.m. with free admission).
- Concerts: On Saturday, the 29th, Japanese bandoneonist Ryota Komatsu will perform at the CC 25 de Mayo. To close out the event, on Sunday, the 30th, the Sexteto Mayor will offer a special concert at the Teatro Colón
