On Sunday afternoons, MALBA presents the premiere of LS83, the new documentary by Herman Szwarcbart with voice-over by writer Martín Kohan, who builds with lost archives of the Channel 9 newscast a moment of memory of a key period in Argentina.
LS83, a unique look at Argentine memory through forgotten images arrives at Malba.
LS83 intertwines the childhood memories of writer Martín Kohan with the discovery of an audiovisual archive forgotten for decades: 16 mm cans with recordings of the newscast between 1973 and 1983, discovered by chance in the Museo del Cine by Herman Szwarcbart. In these images appear the faces and speeches of Videla, Massera, Galtieri and Bignone in never broadcasted recordings, which today reveal as much as what was silenced at the time.

Szwarcbart, who had already explored collective memory in Fuimos felices (2018), proposes an intimate reflection on the relationship between the public and the personal: childhood television, snacks in front of the news and the coexistence between the everyday and the dictatorship.
LS83 is not only a film about the past: it is an invitation to look again at the images we thought we knew, and to think about how personal memories are intertwined with the history that shaped us.
