This weekend, October 24 and 25, the Japanese Garden in Buenos Aires is hosting a food festival dedicated to Japanese street food and all those flavors that transport us to another place just by smelling or imagining them. Whether you’re a fan of incredible flavors or simply looking for something different to do this weekend, get ready to wander among the yatai (Japanese street food stalls). We’ll tell you everything you’ll be able to enjoy at this event, which is coming to Buenos Aires for the first time.
Yatai Festival at the Japanese Garden: dates, tickets, and everything about the first Japanese street food event.
From noon to 6 p.m. on the weekend of October 24 and 25, you’ll be able to experience a journey through the best and most delicious traditional Japanese food—not the kind you find in fancy restaurants or sushi bars, but the street food that floods the streets of Tokyo or Kyoto, only you’ll be able to try it right here in Buenos Aires.

For two days, the paths of the Japanese Garden will host Japanese street food carts—the kind you’d find at a street food festival—serving traditional Japanese dishes, drinks, and beer just like in Japan. Did someone say sake? Of course, you’ll find it here too: sake, teas, Kira beer, and even ice cream.
How to get to this Japanese street food festival

The Japanese Garden is an urban oasis built in 1967. It was constructed to commemorate the first visit to Argentina by Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko. Did you know it’s the largest Japanese-style garden outside of Japan? It was declared a “Site of National Historical and Artistic Interest” in 2008.
There’s surely no better setting to enjoy a festival that invites you to explore Japan through its flavors. Imagine dining among traditional bridges, walking paths, monuments, and lakes teeming with koi fish, as you stroll from one yatai to the next.
Your ticket to the Japanese Garden also grants you access to the area where the street food fair and the yatai will be located. Here are all the details:
