Every June 13, the Day of the Writer is commemorated as a tribute to the birth of Leopoldo Lugones. This year 2025, Buenos Aires celebrates it with a cultural proposal that you cannot miss: a free literary tour through the neighborhoods of Retiro and Recoleta and the mansion that is now the Ricardo Güiraldes library, which you can visit on free guided tours. The residence of the Helguera-Padilla family is a beautiful mansion that today is the Ricardo Güiraldes library. Discover its nooks and crannies on the free guided tour this June 13 for the Day of the Writer.
During the walk (it is a walking tour through places close to each other), you will visit places linked to the life and work of authors such as Jorge Luis Borges and learn about the places where they lived and grew up. Visit the house where José Luis Borges lived, the childhood home of Adolfo Bioy Casares, and the building where writer Beatriz Guido lived.
Also, on Callao Avenue, learn how the universe of Jorge Camarasa, author of detective novels, translates into the city. This literary tour ends on Posadas Street, in front of a building designed by architect Alejandro Bustillo, where Silvina Ocampo and Adolfo Bioy Casares lived.
