If you are looking for a short getaway for the weekend and enjoy the outdoors without leaving Buenos Aires, we tell you that there is a waterfront park in front of the Rio de la Plata that is not on the Costanera and is perfect for going out with kids on the weekend.
Meet this Coastal Park 30 minutes away from Buenos Aires: It is not on the Waterfront, it has a Viewpoint, Games, Nature and Food Trucks.
This park is right in front of the Rio de la Plata and is an environmental and urban recovery project that seeks to reconnect Avellaneda with its riverside. It is called Parque del Río and was inaugurated as part of the Avellaneda-Quilmes Coastal Corridor. It is a green space that combines nature, recreation and gastronomy and is only 30 minutes away from the city of Buenos Aires.
In this riverfront park so close to Buenos Aires you will find large landscaped areas, trails, bike paths and even a viewpoint with panoramic views of the Rio de la Plata. It is a perfect place to spend the afternoon with children, friends or family because everything in this riverfront park invites you to enjoy a day outdoors and the sunset.
The park is designed to spend the day and has everything: tables and benches to have a chat by the river, a playground for children, bike paths and trails for walking or cycling, a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Rio de la Plata, food trucks and food stalls and even free parking within the premises.
In addition, just a few meters away you can visit the Sarandí Ecological Reserve, a green lung with nature trails where you can watch birds and completely disconnect from the noise.
Hours and how to get there
The River Park is open every day, with no fixed schedule, while the Sarandí Ecological Reserve is open on Thursdays and Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm. You can get there by car from Buenos Aires in less than 30 minutes or by bus: line 570 will take you to the area or line 100 to downtown Avellaneda and then a cab or Uber.
