Spinetta is one of the great pillars of national rock. He left songs that crossed generations, such as Muchacha ojos de papel, Seguir viviendo sin tu amor or Durazno sangrando, pieces where poetic sensitivity, musical curiosity and a creative freedom that continues to inspire.
The link between Luis Alberto Spinetta and Centro Cultural Recoleta
In the mid 80’s, in the midst of the democratic recovery, Spinetta participated in the Recoleta in some musical clinics promoted by Pedro Aznar, member of Serú Girán. They were unique meetings where he talked about science, nature and astronomy —inspired by Carl Sagan’s Cosmos series— and he dared to imagine the future of music, in times of samplers, drum machines and DJs that made vinyl an instrument.
Almost four decades later, those ideas about the fusion of art, science and experimentation still resonate. His constant quest explains why his work continues to inspire tributes.
And if after this one you’re still hungry for more, on December 18 the Margarita Xirgu Theater will light up with another tribute to Spinetta, this time by candlelight under the Candlelight cycle. And tickets are already on sale.
