1. BAFICI 2023 Buenos Aires International Festival
BAFICI is the Buenos Aires International Film Festival and will be held in April, more specifically from April 19 to May 1, 2023. Undoubtedly, BAFICI is one of the most important film festivals in Latin America and an unmissable event to see in a few days and in the same city, the most outstanding national and international films.
BAFICI’s program is distributed among the main movie theaters on Corrientes Avenue – the CC San Martín, the Lorca cinema, the Cosmos, the Gaumont theater, the Multiplex Monumental Lavalle, the Alliance Française and the San Martín Theater. The Cinema Museum, the Usina del Arte, the CC 25 de Mayo and the Parque Centenario Amphitheater are also part of this circuit.
BAFICI is not free, but ticket prices are usually very affordable and it also includes a children’s film section called BAFICITO.
2. Construir Cine 2023 Labor Film Festival
Construir Cine is the International Labor Film Festival and is held in May to commemorate International Labor Day.
This year 2023, Construir Cine takes place from May 11 to 18 in cinemas and cultural centers in Buenos Aires but also in several virtual platforms. This is one of the film festivals in Buenos Aires where you are going to find works about the world of work but also about its people and the stories of struggle and progress that surround the world of any worker. Admission is free.
3. VECINE Villa Crespo Film Festival 2023
VECINE is the first neighborhood festival in the city of Buenos Aires and this 2023 celebrates its 4th edition in February, from the 1st to the 10th.
VECINE is an independent and self-managed festival with two venues: the amphitheater of Parque Centenario (with capacity for 1600 people seated) and the auditorium of the DAC, the headquarters of the association that brings together Argentine film directors and which is located in the neighborhood of Villa Crespo. Admission is free and as if that were not enough, all VECINE films are presented live by their directors.
4. German Film Festival 2023
The German Film Festival is held in September and brings together the best and most outstanding of the German language film scene. The festival is organized by the Goethe Institute of Buenos Aires and the German Embassy. You can see feature films, documentaries and participate in special events such as talks with authors and exhibitions.

5. French Film Festival
The French Film Festival is held in March and has only one venue: the Cinepolís theater in Recoleta. The French Embassy and the French Institute of Argentina join forces to bring this festival that lasts 6 days and allows you to keep track of the latest releases of French cinema, discover new films that do not reach commercial theaters and of course, enjoy watching even an hour and a half, the beauty of French landscapes and listen to their language.
6. Blood Red 2023 Buenos Aires Horror Film Festival
Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre is the international horror, fantastic and bizarre film festival of Buenos Aires, held in November and is the oldest fantastic film festival in Latin America. The exact date is yet to be determined but what is certain is that it is an unmissable event for horror and bizarre film lovers from all over the world because BARS brings together feature films, documentaries and international shorts that are not usually shown in theaters.
In its previous edition the festival was presented in two venues, one of them the CC San Martin with free admission and also added a virtual platform. Genre lovers, if you did not know this is your festival.
7. Political Film Festival 2023
FiCiP is the International Political Film Festival of Buenos Aires, a direct screen to cinema with a political view of society, from documentary and fiction and in all formats. This 2023 FiCiP takes place in May, from May 24 to 31.
In its previous edition, the festival was held in well-known venues such as the Gaumont Cinema, the Mugica Cultural Center and the San Martin Cultural Center. Admission is free.
8. International Human Rights Film Festival 2023
The 2023 International Human Rights Film Festival will take place in June in the city of Buenos Aires. Its program will also include workshops and meetings with directors, special guests and protagonists of the more than 50 films that usually populate its program. Admission is free.
9. Cannabis Film Festival 2023
The FICC is the Buenos Aires Cannabis Film Festival held in February and offers a selection of more than 30 films from 15 countries around the world, as well as workshops, talks, concerts, art and photography exhibitions.
You can see the films of the Cannabis Film Festival at the Manzana de las Luces and Casa Nacional del Bicentenario venues in person between February 15 and 26 and virtually between February 20 and March 6. Admission is free of charge.
10. SYNCRO Film Fest 2023 film and short film festival
SYNCRO is the International Short Film Festival of the City of Buenos Aires. This 2023 will be its first edition and will take place between June 20 and 23. All of its sections are dedicated purely and exclusively to short films.
SYNCRO Film Fest will have two venues: the Leopoldo Lugones Hall of the CC San Martín and the Casa Nacional del Bicentenario.
11. FIBA 2023 Buenos Aires International Festival
FIBA is not exclusively a film festival, but it has such a diverse and interesting proposal that we had to include it. FIBA combines the best of the audiovisual arts with national and international theater, music and dance. FIBA is the International Festival of Buenos Aires and is held in February.
FIBA also includes in its program a section dedicated to children, FIBITA. Tickets for all events, with some exceptions, are free and can be purchased online.
