The International Literature Festival (FILBA) returns in 2026 with a packed schedule featuring more than 40 activities designed for readers, curious minds, and writers alike. This year, nearly 100 authors have confirmed their attendance (do the names of French author Emmanuel Carrère and Irish author Claire Keegan ring a bell?).

FILBA 2026: A Literary Celebration Centered on “Habitat”
In 2026, the festival will take place under a central theme: “Habitat.” The invitation is to reflect on how we build a space of our own that belongs to everyone, one that connects urban life with nature. Through conversations, tours of Buenos Aires, workshops, and sound performances, literature will take over Buenos Aires in a variety of formats. Are you ready?
The venues that will host FILBA in 2026
Unlike previous editions, this year the Buenos Aires literary circuit is expanding to include academic venues, museums, and alternative outdoor locations. The official venues where you’ll be able to experience the festival are:

Must-See Authors: Carrère, Keegan, and Sosa Villada
One of FILBA’s biggest draws is the chance to meet established authors and your favorite writers face-to-face. The highlights of this edition include:
- Emmanuel Carrère: The French journalist and writer will appear on Friday, October 2, at 8:00 p.m. at the School of Law (interviewed by Leila Guerriero; free admission). On Saturday, October 3, he will give a paid talk at Malba about the behind-the-scenes story of his latest book, *Koljós*.
- Claire Keegan: The Irish writer will read her short stories on Friday morning at the Malba ( ticketed event) and, in the evening at 8:00 p.m., will give an open, free interview in the Aula Magna of the Law School.
- Camila Sosa Villada: The local writer will offer an exclusive preview of excerpts from her upcoming book during a free reading on Friday afternoon in the halls of the Malba.
What You Can Do at the International Literature Festival
Almost all festival activities are free and open to the public. Among the highlights of the program that you won’t want to miss are the following four:
- Opening Ceremony (“A Voice Made of Voices”): Wednesday, September 30, at 7:00 p.m. at Malba. For the first time, nearly all the authors (both national and international) will take the stage to create a choral tapestry of readings.
- Interviews, panels, and workshops: You’ll have the opportunity to learn from national authors (such as Osvaldo Baigorria, Juana Aguirre, and I Acevedo) and international authors from 8 different countries.
- Pop-up Bookstore: The iconic Eterna Cadencia bookstore is open every day so you can pick up your favorite books and, if you’re lucky, get them signed.
- FILBA Night: Because literature also comes alive at night. From Friday through Sunday, the festival invites you to share a glass of wine, enjoy poetry recitals, performance readings, and an unmissable dance party to wrap up the evening.
An evening of celebration and books on a terrace on Callao Avenue
On Saturday, October 3, starting at 8:00 p.m., the festival’s evening event moves to Bar La Paz Arriba (1082 Callao Ave.) with the “Leemos y bailamos” party, co-organized with the Escape a Plutón book club. The event combines live readings by authors such as Lalo Barrubia and Lucía Lijtmaer, live music , and an open dance floor where literature meets drinks, DJs, and a party for authors and readers to celebrate together.
