Imagine listening to the anthems of Charly García, Spinetta, and Soda Stereo, or tango classics, in an atmosphere lit by thousands of candles. The Candlelight concerts are revamping their schedule in Buenos Aires with four tributes dedicated to the essence of Argentine music in a string quartet format. The series takes place at various historic venues throughout the city, with tickets starting at $20,000.

This new season highlights Argentine culture, adapting generational anthems to the elegance of chamber music. Below are the details of the four confirmed programs:

• Tribute to Charly García: a journey through the discography of the national rock icon. Anthems such as “Seminare,” “Rezo por vos,” and “Demoliendo hoteles” will be performed, adapted exclusively for string quartet.

• From Pop Music: Gustavo Cerati’s music arrives with a program that revisits his time with Soda Stereo and his solo career. The program includes “Té para tres,” “Crimen,” and “En la ciudad de la furia,” reinterpreted by a string quartet.

• Tribute to Luis Alberto Spinetta: rediscover the work of “El Flaco” with songs like “Muchacha (ojos de papel),” “Barro tal vez,” and “Alma de diamante” reinterpreted for string quartet.

• Classic Tangos: a concert featuring bandoneonist Nicolás Enrich alongside the string quartet to pay tribute to iconic pieces such as Por una cabeza, Sur, and Quejas de Bandoneón.

Historic venues and confirmed local artists: everything you need to know

The concerts take place at key venues throughout the city, such as the Margarita Xirgu Theater and the Asturian Center. The performances are presented by the Velse Quartet and the Ámbar Quartet ( depending on the tribute), with bandoneonist Nicolás Enrich joining for Tangos Clásicos.

It is important to remember that tickets are sold online only and punctuality is key: you cannot enter once the show has started so as not to disrupt the candlelit atmosphere.
